Content Portal

The Content Portal provides a streamlined way to access new and updated EVOLVE content directly within the Revit environment. With just a few clicks, users can download content for immediate use—no external browsing required.

Accessing the Content Portal

You can open the Content Portal from two locations within Revit:

  • From the Ribbon:
Navigate to the eVolve Electrical tab → Resources panel → Click Content Portal.

  • From the Family Browser:
Click the Content Portal button (to the left of the Load Favorites button).

Portal Layout & Content Types

When opened, the Content Portal displays available content in a clean, grid-based layout. Each row represents a downloadable content package.

Standard Content Categories Include:
  • Family Libraries (includes families not bundled with the installer and early-access versions of upcoming content updates)
  • EVOLVE Sample Files
  • EVOLVE Reports
Each content entry includes:
  • A description
  • Uploaded date
  • (Optional) Help Link
  • (Optional) Version number
Clicking an entry will expand a sub-grid showing:
  • Individual file names
  • Brief descriptions for each item

Downloading Content

To download any package, click the Download button in the content row.

When downloading a Family Library, EVOLVE will place its contents directly into your custom library directory.
  • If a custom path has not been set, you’ll be prompted to choose one.
  • After download, all families in the library become immediately available in the Family Browser.
Automatic Configuration Loading

If the downloaded library includes a Global Configuration file:

  • Any EVOLVE utility configurations (like Parameter Sync rules) will be automatically loaded.
  • This means newly downloaded families will be fully functional out of the box, without any additional setup.
Downloading Other Content Types

Content packages not classified as a Family Library (e.g., sample files, raw Revit content) are downloaded to a user-specified directory.

  • These are treated as standard files.
  • You’re free to use, move, or modify them as needed.
