Intro to Conduit

EVOLVE provides two types of conduit:

  1. System Conduit (Native Revit Conduit)

System family conduit refers to the built-in Revit Conduit feature, EVOLVE provides default types based on industry standards but users can fully customize and/or create conduit types. While EVOLVE provides tools to enhance conduit modeling, the general function of modeling with this family type remains unchanged from the way users would model conduit in native Revit.

EVOLVE provides a system families manager that allows users to on-demand load system families into their active Revit project. This function of "on-demand loading" is similar to the native Revit function "transfer project standards", EVOLVE will load in the types along with the properties and routing preferences for each type.

TIP: The Revit project file that is being used must have the conduit Electrical Settings defined so that the proper outside diameters are used for each conduit type. The EVOLVE project template comes pre-configured with standard conduit types.
  2. Bend Families (EVOLVE Families)

Bend families refer to the specific families that EVOLVE has created and provides via the Family Browser. These families give users a unique way of modeling and representing conduit bends. These families decrease modeling time and contain built-in constraints to prevent users from modeling what can not be fabricated, improving the overall accuracy of conduit bends within the model.

Bend families are typically inserted into a straight run of conduit(s) and then can be configured at each instance via the family parameters, EVOLVE also provides bend optimization tools for group editing and advanced controls. Users should first be familiar with each bend family (parameters, how it works, options, etc) and then become familiar with the optimization tools.
