Configuration Exchange

The Configuration Exchange feature allows for the rule sets and configurations (along with their dependencies) for the below EVOLVE features to be easily and selectively imported/exported. For example, when exporting, if data profiles and/or data tables are referenced by a rule set or configuration, the Configuration Exchange will automatically display those profiles and/or tables to be included in the export file. Except for Data Tables, all features below have possible dependencies.

Impacted features

  • Reports
  • Data Profiles
  • Data Tables
  • Parameter Sync
  • Colorizer
  • Workset Manager

Note: Workset Manager uses model-specific Ids (not the name) when associating a rule. Unless the respective workset exists in a template and both the source and destination were created from that template, then the Ids won’t match, and the rule won’t work until it is manually fixed.

To Export

  1. From the feature, in the tool palette, click Configuration Exchange.
  2. From the Configuration Exchange window, select the desired row(s) and click Export Selected.

NOTE: when selecting a row, if the item has any dependencies, the dependencies are automatically selected. If you do not wish to include the dependencies you can manually deselect them.

  1. From the Export Data window, navigate to the desired location, name the file, and click Save.
  2. From the Configuration Exchange window, click OK.

To Import

  1. From the feature, in the tool palette, click Configuration Exchange.
  2. From the Configuration Exchange window, click Import Data.
  3. From the Import Data window, navigate to the desired .eVBatch file, select the file, and click Open.
  4. From the Configuration Exchange window, select the desired row(s) and click Import Selected.

NOTE: when selecting a row, if the item has any dependencies, the dependencies are automatically selected. If you do not wish to include the dependencies you can manually deselect them.

  1. From the Import Data window, click OK.
  2. From the Configuration Exchange window, click OK.
  3. From the Configuration Exchange window, click OK. The selected items are imported.

Note: rule sets and configurations must all be within the scope (all project specific or all user-specific). For example, Element Filters (machine-specific) and Renumber (user-specific) cannot be in the same “batch” as Parameter Sync (project-specific).
