eVolve Sleeve Settings

As with hangers, the Sleeve Placement feature in eVolve is controlled by rules dictated through Sleeve Settings. Here users can create custom rule sets for placement as well as choose from multiple options.

Project Sleeve Settings Window

Inside the settings window users will find all the options needed to control sleeve placement. For ease of use the panel is separated into a Configuration and Settings tab. Note that once in place, these settings are remembered for the project, though they can be edited at any time.

Configuration Tab

The configuration tab is where all rules for sleeve placement are created and stored. There are many options available to provide the flexibility needed for realistic placement. Be sure to take time to review the available options.

  1. Configuration - The area for creating sleeve placement rule sets that drive the feature
  2. Settings - Options to further customize placement rule sets that drive the feature
  3. Host Family - Option to choose between host Revit families
    1. These are pulled directly from the link/models selected in the Settings tab
  4. Host Type - Option to choose specific family types available from the Host Family.
  5. Run Type - The type of run the rule applies to. Standard MEP types are available.
  6. Sleeve Family - Choose which sleeve families to place using this rule
    1. Sleeve Families must contain “Auto Sleeve” in the subcategory name.
  7. Sleeve Type - Options to choose specific family types
  8. Width Buffer Value - The value to increment sleeve width by
  9. Additional Sleeve Length – The value to oversize the length of the sleeve by
  10. Sleeve Family File Path - If the desired sleeve is not already in the model, users can find and use it here
    1. If the desired sleeve is already in the model, there is no need to fill out this information
  11. Pending Action - Action to be made when Apply or Ok is clicked
  12. Error Message - Informs of any current errors with a rule
  13. Duplicate - Quickly duplicate a rule to save time
  14. Export/Import - Options to export and import rule sets for easy sharing
  15. Ok - Accepts pending changes and closes window
  16. Cancel - Cancels pending changes and closes window
  17. Apply - Accepts pending changes and keeps window open

Settings Tab

The settings tab allows for options beyond standard rule configurations. Here users can choose whether to sleeve through drawn features in the primary model, or through features in the linked model. There are also several performance options in this tab.

  1. Configuration - Area for creating sleeve placement rule sets that drive the feature
  2. Settings - Options to further customize placement that are universal, rather than rule specific
  3. Include Primary Model - Use available wall/floor families in current model when creating rules
  4. Loaded Linked Models - Choose which link(s) to pull available wall/floor families from when creating rules
  5. On Placement - Choose which status to assign sleeves when placed
  6. Place Alignment Locks - Choose to allow alignment locking which ensures sticky behavior
  7. Export/Import - Options to export and import rule sets for easy sharing
  8. Ok - Accepts pending changes and closes window
  9. Cancel - Cancels pending changes and closes window
  10. Apply - Accepts pending changes and keeps window open

To Use Project Sleeve Settings

  1. From the eVolve ribbon, in the Utilities panel, click the Place Sleeves button and select Sleeve Settings from the drop-down options
  2. From the Project Sleeve Settings window, click the Settings tab
  3. Select Include from Primary Model or Linked Models
  4. While still in the Project Sleeve Settings window, click the Configuration tab
  5. Setup Rules for each wall type
  6. Click OK
  7. This completes the auto sleeve configuration process and the Place Sleeves function is ready for use
